Musalia Mudavadi welcomes new CS team after swearing-in

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has extended a warm welcome to all newly appointed and reappointed CSs, moments after their swearing-in ceremony at State House, Nairobi.

Mudavadi has been juggling all duties in all the ministries on orders from President William Ruto during the transition period.

Ruto had dismissed his entire cabinet, retaining only Mudavadi.

In a statement shared on his X account on Thursday, August 8, 2024, Mudavadi expressed his support for the new team and emphasized the importance of collaboration and dedication in serving the nation.

“I joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, Deputy President @rigathi, and other esteemed leaders at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet Secretaries at State House, Nairobi. I extend my congratulations to my new colleagues and warmly welcome them aboard. Together, we will work to foster an enabling, inclusive, efficient, effective, transparent, and broad-based environment, dedicated to serving Kenyans with dignity, dedication, and zeal,” Mudavadi expressed.

19 in, one out

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, President Ruto oversaw the swearing-in of 19 CS as part of his broad-based administration.

This comes days after the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments carried out a four-day vetting process to evaluate the qualifications of the nominees.

On Monday, August 7, 2024, the Committee approved 19 CS nominees except for the Gender nominee, Soi Langat.

The approved CSs include;

1. National Treasury – John Mbadi

2. Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports – Kipchumba Murkomen

3. Cooperatives and MSME Development – Wycliffe Oparanya

4. Tourism and Wildlife – Rebecca Miano

5. Energy and Petroleum – Opiyo Wandayi

6. Public Service – Justin Muturi

7. Investments, Trade and Industry – Salim Mvurya

8. Labour and Social Protection – Alfred Mutua

9. Mining and Blue Economy – Hassan Joho

10. Ministry of the Interior and National Administration – Kithure Kindiki

11. Ministry of Health – Debra Mulongo Barasa

12. Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry- Aden Duale

13. Ministry of Roads and Transport – Davis Chirchir

14. Ministry of Defence – Soipan Tuya

15. Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation – Eric Muga

16. Ministry of Education-  Julius Migosi

17. Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development – Alice Wahome

18. Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development- Andrew Karanja

19. Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy- Margaret Ndungu
