Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has promised to complete the refurbishment of facilities that are supposed to be used for East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games set to kick off on December 6, 2024, to December 18, in Mombasa.
Murkomen in a statement shared via his official social media accounts on Monday, November 25, 2024, said that Kenya’s stature as a destination of major international sporting events is currently on the rise.
Murkomen launches EAC Games
Murkomen’s remarks came moments after he joined the members of the Bunge Sports Club to launch the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games.
“Our country’s stature as a destination of major international sporting events is on the ascent. To fast-track this rise, our ministry works closely with all the stakeholders to ensure every event held on our soil is successful.
“This morning, I joined members of the Bunge Sports Club to launch the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games which will be held in Mombasa from 6th to 18th December. We shall complete the refurbishment of the facilities that will be used to stage the event in good time to ensure its success,” Murkomen stated.

Wetang’ula on EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula had earlier on expressed confidence that the Parliament of Kenya is not only going to the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games to win trophies but to also demonstrate its commitment to regional integration of the region to a free movement of people, goods and services.
Taking to his official X account shortly after the launch of the upcoming games, Wetang’ula stated that the event has the support of the presidents of the region who have shown their commitment to unite the East African region as one.
“The Parliament of Kenya is not only going to the East Africa Community Inter – Parliamentary Games to win trophies but to also demonstrate its commitment to regional integration of the Region to a free movement of people, goods and services. This has the support of our Presidents of the region who have shown their commitment to unite the East African Region as one,” Wetang’ula stated.
