Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has expressed his admiration for President William Ruto, saying that it is hard to hate the Head of State.
Kaluma’s sentiment comes at a time when the Kenya Kwanza administration is under immense criticism. The latest criticism came from Catholic bishops, who argued that Ruto’s government is being driven by lies and unfulfilled promises.
“It is difficult to hate,” Kaluma said in a statement on his X account on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Kaluma’s post was accompanied by a video of the president addressing the public in Embu during Bishop Peter Kimani’s consecration.
Ruto acknowledged receiving the criticism directed at him by the clergy.
Ruto answers bishops
On Friday, November 15, 2024, during a graduation ceremony at Tangaza University, the president told the bishops that they should base their criticism on facts.
“I want to ask all of us – leaders, the clergy, Kenyans – to work together towards a nation that we can all be proud of. Even as we engage in public discourse on matters that are important to the people of Kenya, we must be careful to be factual in matters of public interest lest we become victims of things we are accusing others of. I know you know what I mean,” he said.
“We are all united in the service of the people. That is why we are working with all leaders – the clergy included – towards a Kenya we can all be proud of. But even as we seek to hold each other accountable, we must endeavour to be constructive and factual,” Ruto said.
Ruto‘s next steps will be watched closely to see whether he will fully address the concerns raised against his administration.
