Saboti MP Caleb Amisi now claims the fate of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is sealed in regard to impending impeachment plans.

In a statement on X on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Amisi called for peace in case the second in command is impeached.

“The DP’s goose is cooked, waiting to be served on the floor of the house. But whether Gachagua is impeached or not, no Kenyan will carry a machete nor an arrow and spear to harm his fellow Kenyan because of (William) Ruto and Gachagua,” Amisi stated.

“Kenyans elected you (Ruto and Gachagua) innocently, believing you will deliver them from the bondage of poverty and economic turmoil. They have no business fighting one ethnicity against another. 2007 was a good lesson for political maturity in the midst of tribal bigots. Kenyans will never fight again for mistakes beyond their knowledge.”

This comes amid sustained vows by President William Ruto’s allies who say they are ready to kick out Gachagua after a fallout with his boss.

Speaking on Monday, September 24, 2024, Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei vowed to ensure that Gachagua was kicked out.

“I will personally send you home. Rigathi Gachagua I am putting you on notice today. I want to confirm to you that you will be impeached and I shall be in charge of that impeachment motion. Here at home, they call me an iron lady. No one will touch William Ruto when I am there,” she stated.

Shollei, who is the deputy speaker of the National Assembly joins a list of other politicians and leaders baying for Gachagua’s blood following his fallout with Ruto.

Atwoli warns Gachagua

Speaking on Monday, September 23, 2024, Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli slammed Gachagua for what he termed as too much politics.

Atwoli suggested that a deputy president should be an appointee and not a running mate of the president.

“The position of deputy president must remain of appointment and there would be no these circus you hear. The deputy president should be an appointee of the president, not a running mate. Once he becomes a running mate he thinks he is also a president,” Atwoli stated

“President William Samoei Ruto is out of the country and he (Gachagua) is on top of his car. Now he’s the real president, misleading people, misguiding the nation. He must be arrested.”

Atwoli has further accused the second in command of contradicting his boss as well as government policies, despite being in government.

“You can’t be contradicting government policies and contradicting your own president. A deputy president is supposed to play fool. Don’t even be heard unless you are told you’ll be heard now. We cannot have two presidents at the same time,” Atwoli added.

In the Senate, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana filed a censure motion against Gachagua.

Mungatana said in his motion that the second in command had contravened Article 75 of the Constitution stipulating the conduct with which state officers should carry themselves.

“Aware that pursuant to Article 147 of the Constitution, the holder of the Office of the Deputy President is the principal assistant to the President making the Office a symbol of national unity whose holder must at all times respect, uphold and safeguard the Constitution; promote and enhance the unity of the Nation, and promote respect for the diversity of the people and communities of Kenya,” the motion reads in part.

“Concerned that Hon. Rigathi Gachagua, E.G.H. on several occasions since his assumption to the Office of Deputy President, has made utterances, among others, regarding employment opportunities to Kenyans in the public service; allocation of resources to the devolved units; and incitement of a section of Kenyans to disobey lawful directives by some county governments.”

So far, the alluded impeachment motion has not yet been filed in the National Assembly.
