Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka (pictured)  has locked horns with his senator Wafula Wakoli over the expenditure of Sh148 million during this year’s  Madaraka Day celebrations.

Wakoli wants the governor to come clear and explain to the electorate how he spent the money yet the entire budget for the fete was catered for by the national government.

The lawmaker Lusaka had been invited to the Senate next week to shed light on the expenditure.

‘’I will continue to demand transparency regarding the expenditure of funds in Bungoma county’’ stated Wakoli.

The senator wondered how the county could spend a whopping Sh25million on flowers yet hospitals lack drugs.

Value for money

‘’I will not remain silent when the taxpayers of Bungoma do not receive value for their money,’ ‘he added.

However Lusaka who is on an official trip in China said he will answer the senator when he returns to the country.

‘’I have heard all the allegations from the senator and I will give my official statement as the deputy party leader of Ford Kenya when I come back’,’ Lusaka said through local WhatsApp platforms.

Significant concerns

‘’Community Health Promoters have not been paid since December, and there are significant concerns about how Sh148 million was spent on Madaraka Day. There is a shortage of drugs in our health facilities, this is not about party issue,’’ said Wakoli.
