Mombasa artistes angrily tell doctors off for showing disrespect to their hustle

By , January 14, 2022

Musicians in Mombasa have lauded the county government for giving them an opportunity to perform during the New Year’s Eve at the Mama Ngina Waterfront.

At the same time, however, they’ve rebuked doctors from the coastal city for terming the event as a waste of funds.

This comes a week after the doctors accused the county government of negligence and misappropriation of funds leading to two months salary arrears for county employees, and accused the authorities of spending millions of shillings on artistes during the event.

The artistes termed the doctor’s statements as highly disrespectful to their profession.

“Paying artistes is not a waste of funds; we have responsibilities to take care of for our families.

We are citizens of the same government, and the creative economy pays a lot of people well.

We are happy to share that the industry is finally reopening and we thank the governor for the opportunity,” said singer Susumila.
