KPSEA tests kick off on October 25 – exam body

This year’s Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will kick off on October 25 to October 30, the national examination’s body has announced.

According to the timetable released by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), candidates will sit for assessments in key disciplines including Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Integrated Science, Creative Arts, and Social Studies.

“Teachers are advised to ensure that candidates clearly understand the instructions given below and are aware of the penalties for assessment irregularities or misconduct,” the exams’ body stated.

The KPSEA serves as a nationwide assessment for students in Grade 6, marking the end of the first phase of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) education system. KNEC emphasized the need for candidates, teachers, and invigilators to strictly adhere to the guidelines outlined for the assessments.

Cause of disturbance
It warned all candidates against any form of misconduct during the examination, warning any misconduct or causing of disturbance near the assessment room will be treated as an assessment irregularity.

“A candidate who commits an assessment irregularity in any paper will have the results for the whole subject cancelled. Such a candidate will not be entitled to a result for the subject. This will be reflected as (00),” KNEC warned.

According to Section 27 of the Act, any student gains access to assessment material and knowingly reveals the contents, whether orally or in writing, to an unauthorized party, whether a candidate or not, will be in violation of the Act and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, or a fine not exceeding two million shillings or both.
