KMC calls on livestock keepers to supply their Mombasa plant

The Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) has called on livestock keepers across the Coast region and the country to increase their efforts in supplying animals for processing at its Mombasa factory and other branches.

The appeal comes in response to a growing demand for meat products in the country, which has highlighted the need for more robust supply chains.

Speaking yesterday, KMC’s Kibarani Branch Manager, Colonel Anthony Naibei, noted that while there is a steady supply of livestock, it remains insufficient to meet the factory’s processing needs.

“The supply is there, but it’s still not enough. Counties are doing their best, but we encourage farmers to ramp up their efforts. As our business grows, so does the demand for more animals,” Colonel Naibei explained.

The Kibarani factory, he said, supports livestock farmers from various counties, including Lamu, Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta, and Kwale. Naibei reassured farmers that the Commission is ready to purchase livestock from a variety of suppliers, ranging from large ranches.
