Faith Kipyegon has broken her own 1500m world record during the 2024 Wanda Diamond League campaign in Paris, France.

Kipyegon clocked 3:49.04 during the race, a new world record which will become official after official ratification.

The new record is an improvement of 0.07 seconds to her previous best set in Florence in June 2023.

Australian Jessica Hull came second with the fifth fastest 1500m time in history clocking 3:50:83.

"Faith Kipyegon has once again made history. Congratulations on breaking your own record in the 1500m race. Your victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work and determination, a valuable lesson to the aspiring young athletes who look up to you," President William Ruto stated.

"Kudos to Amos Serem and Abraham Kibiwott for clinching second and third places in the men's 3000m steeplechase. We are proud of Team Kenya for their outstanding representation at the Paris Diamond League."
