Kindiki warns State to treat demonstrators as terrorists

Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki has warned demonstrators involved in the destruction of property would henceforth be treated as terrorists.

While speaking at Matiru Catholic Church in Embu county, Kindiki said the Opposition has a right to differ with some government policies but noted there are some terrorists who have hidden in political world.

He said nobody will be spared because the government will not condone any form of violence, destruction of property or causing mayhem to Kenyans inform of politics.

“As a government, we will not allow any person to use politics as an excuse to destroy property,”warned Kindiki.

The CS condemned destructions that were witnessed in the past few weeks during anti government protests saying nothing of that nature shall be allowed in any given time.

Kindiki distanced himself from the dialogue issue saying he was not a politician but an administrator and urged politicians to denounce politics of deceit.

“Those who are hidden behind political rights to destroy property will not be allowed,we must denounce violence,”Kindiki said.

Embu governor Cecily Mbarire said dialogue was a good move but they won’t allow any form of handshake.

“As UDA we are not for handshake, if it’s greetings let them wave on the air and that is enough,”she said.
She said the Handshake made retired President Uhuru Kenyatta not to deliver the promises in his manifesto.

Embu senator Alexander Mundigi urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to respect leaders who have been elected saying that demonstrations were damaging the economy. He urged Azimio brigade to accept the reality and move on without initiating demonstrations.
