Some Kenyan companies will be making their presentations at a High-level conference in China to attract investment opportunities from China.
The 15 Kenyan firms will be part of the 408 representatives of African companies and commercial associations from 48 African countries that will be taking part in the 8th edition of the Chinese and African Entrepreneurs Conference.
The conference will bring together over 1,000 participants including 382 representatives of Chinese companies will also see some 12 entrepreneurs from China and Africa who will speak on promoting the integration of industrial and supply chains, and promoting the development of new industries.
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) vice chair Zhang Shaogang said that Economic and trade cooperation is the anchor and propeller of China-Africa relations.
“Chinese government highly values the cooperation between the business communities from China and Africa. We designed the conference agenda in alignment with the FOCAC summit,” said Shaogang.
These companies are in different sectors ranging from energy, mining, infrastructure, finance, trade, digital technology, communication, satellite and biomedicine, among others.
Apart from Kenya, other African entrepreneurs will be from South Africa, Senegal, and Ethiopia among others.
“This fully shows that the African business communities have great interest in and great wish for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation,” said Shaogang.
He went on: “They will share their insights and experience in cooperation and discuss cooperation opportunities.”
Since the introduction of FOCAC in 2000, Chinese companies have helped to build and operate a communication platform network of 150,000km and a network service covering nearly 700 million users
In recent years, through the leadership of China and African countries, business communities from both parties have been deepening communication and cooperation resulting in increased trade.
“At the same time, over the last three years, Chinese companies have created over 1.1 million jobs for the locals. These numbers show that economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa will maintain a strong growth momentum,” said CCPIT deputy director general of the Department of International Relations Lin Honghong.
