Kenya on Tuesday recorded 12 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,661 tested in the past 24 hours.

This translated to a positivity rate of 0.3 per cent.

From the cases, eight re Kenyans and four are foreigners.

“The youngest is a 3-year-old child while the oldest is 63 years old. Total confirmed positive cases are now 323,395 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,507,448,” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.

Some 16 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home-Based Isolation and Care.

This pushes the total recoveries to 317,624 of whom 264,610 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,014 are from various health facilities countrywide.

“Unfortunately, one patient has succumbed to the disease and it is a late death reported after auditing of facility records in the month of March 2022.

“This pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,648. Our condolences to the family and friends who have lost their loved ones,” Kagwe added.

Vaccination

As of March 28, 2022, a total of 17,565,944 vaccines have been administered across the country.

Of these, 16,074,373 are doses administered to the adult population.

Another 1,214,136 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 277,435 are booster doses.
