The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall and generally sunny conditions in some parts of the country for the next five days.

In a forecast report on Saturday, October 5, 2024, the weatherman announced that rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coast.

According to the advisory, the rest of the country is likely to be generally sunny and dry.

Nairobi and its environs

Areas within the same geographical jurisdiction as Nairobi include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties.

According to the weatherman, the areas fall in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley; hence, they are expected to experience similar weather conditions for the next five days, starting from Saturday, October 5, to Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

The weatherman has predicted cloudy periods breaking into sunny intervals in the morning on Saturday, but chances of rainfall are expected on the other remaining days at dawn except on Wednesday.

Showers are further expected in the afternoon and at night from Saturday to Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the weatherman detailed.

For the five days, residents have also been asked to brace for cold weather, with the minimum temperatures projected to drop to 4 degrees Celsius.

Siaya, Kisumu and Bungoma

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley comprise Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties.

According to Kenya Met, the counties are expected to experience rainfall most of the day before breaking into sunny intervals.

Evenings are also expected to be characterised by showers and partly cloudy weather conditions.

Coastal region

The coastal region (Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties) is expected to experience a different weather condition for the five days.

Unlike the previous weeks when residents experienced sunny intervals, the area is expected to receive showers spread throughout the day for the next five days.

Despite the predicted rainfall, temperatures are expected to continue being high.
