Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match between Kakamega Homeboys and Kariobangi Sharks has ended midway following heavy downpours that disrupted play on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

The match was called off in the 58th minute after Mumias Complex playing ground in Kakamega was flooded by rainwater.

By the time the match officials halted the play, William Muluya’s charges were ahead following a 46th goal from new-singing Ally Salum.

In a statement shared by Sharks, the match will resume on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the same venue at 1 pm.

“As a result of heavy downpour, the match ended prematurely and will resume at the 58th minute tomorrow at 1 pm,” Sharks statement read in part.

“Ally Salum had us ahead in the 46th minute,” it added.

Sharks have been one of the most impressive teams so far, going unbeaten in their first three matches. They have netted six goals in their last two games, showing their offensive prowess.

On the flip side, Homeboyz are still searching for their first win of the season, having drawn twice and lost once.

Both teams will be looking to impress their fans when the match resumes from the 58th minute on Monday, September 30, 2024.

AFC Leopards win

In other matches, AFC Leopards extended their fine form after thrashing Nairobi City Stars 2-1 at Dandora Stadium.

Victor Otieno netted his first goal for the club in the first half with an own goal by City Stars sealing the three points for Ingwe. Following the win, AFC Tomas Trucha’s side is placed second on the FKFPL log behind KCB FC.

In another match, the newly promoted side Mara Sugar came from behind to secure a draw against Murang’a Seal at St. Sebastian Park.

Titus Kapchanga gave Murang’a an early lead with a stunning long-range strike in the second minute and secured an equaliser through Mike Isabwa in the 70th minute.

In another match, Francis Kahiro’s second-half strike was all KCB needed to secure a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars FC at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

The win pushed KCB to 10 points from four games, extending their lead at the top of the table. Ulinzi, on the other hand, suffered their second loss of the season and have just one point from their draw with Shabana FC last weekend.
