Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K ) counterpart Eugene Wamalwa have weighed in on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment claims.

Addressing the residents of Kitengela on Sunday, September 29, 2024, both leaders said that if Gachagua is impeached, President William Ruto must be impeached as well.

Wamalwa went on to say that the current regime has failed adding that instead of taking care of the welfare of Kenyans they are busy fighting among themselves.

Additionally, the DAP-K leader added that Ruto’s administration has failed to deal with the current economic crisis being faced in the country.

Azimio stand on DP’s impeachment

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Wamalwa, while speaking in Nyeri County during the memorial service for the 21 Endarasha Hillside Academy pupils killed in the school fire, assured Gachagua of support from the Azimio coalition faction led by Kalonzo.

Wamalwa said that they are aware of the purported plot to impeach Gachagua. He went on to warn individuals behind the said scheme that the residents of Mount Kenya have friends of goodwill from other regions who will support and defend them.

Additionally, the DAP-K leader asserted that they will stand in solidarity with the residents of Mt Kenya when the need comes.

Leo tuko hapa kwa moto wa Endarasha na wale ambaye wanapanga kuasha moto mlima huu nataka nimwaambie watu wa mlima, your excellency mlima huu una marafiki, mlima huu una marafiki, If the day comes when this mountain calls upon us, we will stand with you, you will not stand alone,” he added.

Wamalwa further disclosed that both Kalonzo and him are directly connected with the Mt Kenya region having worked closely with the late President Mwai Kibaki.

He added that their closeness with Kibaki has earned the region friends who are willing to stand with them.

“Ukiona huyu Kalonzo hapa, huku alikua rafiki wa Kibaki muhula wa pili, alikua makamo wa rais na ni rafiki wa huu mulima. Mukiona Wamalwa hapa mujue yakwamba muna marafiki,” Wamalwa stressed.
