Gor Mahia were held to a 1-1 draw by Kakamega Homeboyz in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Both Gor Mahia and Homeboyz were looking to register back-to-back wins but ended up sharing points. In their last match, K’Ogalo were 4-1 winners over Nairobi City Stars, while Homeboyz defeated former champions Tusker 2-1.

Omala scores

Meanwhile, Benson Omala scored the first goal at Bukhungu Stadium when he found the back of the net in the 10th minute.

The record Premier League champions managed to hold onto the lead going into the halftime break.

Homeboyz managed to score the equalizer in the 52nd minute when Shami Kibwana struck past an otherwise resolute Gor Mahia’s defense.

The result means Gor Mahia failed to register their third win of the season, but their points tally moved to eight. On the other hand, Kakamega Homeboyz were looking for their second victory of the nascent season but failed, although they took their point tally to four.

Elsewhere, Nairobi City Stars managed a 2-1 victory over Nzoia Sugar at Ruaraka Ground.

This is the first win of the season for Simba wa Nairobi, while the Sugar Millers suffered their first loss of the term.

Nzoia Sugar went ahead when Emmanuel Osoro scored in the eighth minute before Kelvin Etemesi, who was the subject of intense transfer rumours last window, equalised in the 50th minute.

City Stars scored the winning goal through Rowland Makati two minutes after the hour mark.

Murang’a Seal fall again

Posta Rangers, who enjoy a far better season-opening campaign, managed a 1-0 win over Murang’a Seal at St. Sebastian Park.

This is the second straight loss for the Premier League debutants. Rangers moved to the top of the table with the win courtesy of a goal scored by Patrick Otieno.

Boniface Muchiri scored from a set piece in the 11th minute to give the home side the goal that ensured they picked up the three points.
