Kakamega Homeboyz appoint Kenyatta as Head Coach
Kakamega Homeboyz have appointed former Kenyan international Ken Kenyatta as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Kenyatta was unveiled on Friday, August 2, at the club’s base and is set to start his duties immediately.
Kakamega Homeboyz announcement
“We are pleased to announce the arrival of coach Kenneth Kenyatta as our new head coach. Kenyatta takes charge with immediate effect in preparing the team ahead of the season. Welcome, Coach,” Kakamega Homeboyz confirmed in a statement.
In addition to Kenyatta, the club has also recruited a new assistant coach, Duncan Omondi, to serve as a member of Kenyatta’s backroom staff.
“We are pleased to announce the arrival of coach Duncan Omondi. Coach Omondi is our new assistant coach. Welcome, Coach,” the club added.
Kenyatta returns to management after a five-month hiatus following his exit from FC Talanta in March 2024.
He had joined Talanta in 2020 from the defunct Ushuru and led the Communications Authority of Kenya-sponsored team to promotion to the top tier the following year.
This promotion marked Kenyatta’s return to the top flight after five years in the National Super League.
Before Kakamega Homeboyz
Under Kenyatta’s leadership, Talanta performed admirably in their maiden season in the top flight, finishing 12th with 44 points, although the season was later annulled by the federation.
The club finished 14th in the 2022/23 season, and in the 2023/24 season, they battled relegation at some point.
Kenyatta joins Homeboyz, a team that finished eighth last season with 12 wins, 12 draws, and 10 losses.
