National Assembly Minority Leader and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has said that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga offers the best political coaching to his students.

Speaking in parliament on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, during the debating on the National Assembly Committee on Appointments report on vetting of Cabinet Secretary nominees, Junet said he was proud of his ODM colleagues who landed Cabinet slots.

Junet on ODM CS nominees

“I am proud of my colleagues whom I was with them in the same party and have now joined the executive. It has proved to me that the Raila Odinga Academy School of Politics is the best school of politics in this country,” Junet stated.

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party Secretary-General went ahead to mention the names of the four CS nominees from ODM, saying that they are highly qualified.

Junet on committee’s reaction

According to Junet, the four ODM nominees are the best experts the country can have, and that they had demonstrated their capabilities before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments.

“Look at the kind of nominees ODM has donated to the cabinet. Look at Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, Opiyo Wandayi, and John Mbadi; those are the best experts this country can have. When they appeared before the committee, it was perplexed,” Junet said.

He went ahead to argue that the Moses Wetang’ula-led committee had thought that ODM was only full of hecklers, but they had proved them wrong.

“They said they didn’t know ODM has this kind of expertise. They thought ODM is just hecklers and people who throw stones and make noise in this town. But we have now proved to Kenyans and the public and this house that the best expertise is found in ODM,” Junet stated, cracking up the MPs.

19 CS nominees approved

The Parliament Committee on Appointments has approved 19 Cabinet Secretary nominees selected by President William Ruto to fill positions in his broad-based government.
