Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has expressed optimism regarding President William Ruto’s recently formed broad-based government.

In a statement shared on his X account on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Junet, who is among the ODM Party members accompanying the President on his Nyanza tour, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to President Ruto and his team in Kisumu.

He acknowledged Nyanza’s deep understanding of the sacrifices involved in holding past governments accountable.

He expressed confidence that the broad-based government will cater to the needs of everyone in the region.

“Thank you, Kisumu, for the wonderful reception of H.E President @WilliamsRuto and his delegation. The Nyanza region, particularly Luo Nyanza, understands too well the costs of holding successive regimes accountable to the people. We are confident that the #BBG will serve all of us,” he wrote.

Junet’s remarks follow the appointment of top-level Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders into Ruto’s cabinet.

The tour, which kicked off on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, saw Junet praising the peace currently being witnessed in the country.

According to him, this peace is crucial for ensuring that all regions receive their fair share of the national cake.

“We want to unite in this way to promote development. We have lagged in development… Electricity has only just arrived, and roads are only now being constructed. Mr. President, we had thought we were Ugandans,” Junet said.

Junet also thanked President Ruto for supporting the opposition chief and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga in his quest for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship post, noting that the move might have divine approval.

“President, the path you are on now is leading towards God. Continue on that path, it is blessed, and it is the path the citizens here favour,” he added.
