Jubilee Party on Thursday kicked out Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi as its Senate Majority Chief Whip days after he decamped to Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA party.

In a letter to the senator, the party noted that it removed the senator from its senate leadership following his public declaration to join the UDA party.

Kimani, over the weekend, attended Ruto’s public rally in Thika where he declared his support for Ruto’s presidential bid as well as his intentions to run for the Kiambu governor seat on the UDA party ticket.

The lawmaker also attended the UDA’s National Delegates Convention on Saturday where Ruto was declared the party’s presidential candidate in the coming elections.

Following his associations with UDA, Jubilee noted that Kamini was deemed to have resigned from the ruling party hence wouldn’t longer represent the government agenda in the senate as a Chief Whip.

“This is to bring to your attention that the National Management Committee (NMC) met on 14th March 2022 to deliberate your public attendance of a Kenya Kwanza rally in Thika whereof you were received by the Party leader of United Democratic Alliance as well as declared your intention to contest for the Kiambu County Governor seat on the ticket of UDA

The NMC has therefore resolved that you be deemed to have signed from the membership of Jubilee Party. You will also immediately cease to hold the office of Majority Chief Whip in the Senate together with any leadership position in any committee of the Senate that you currently hold by virtue of being a member of Jubilee Party,” Jubilee party said in a letter to Senator Kimani.
