JKUAT students win ACCA inter-university business leaders challenge

Three students from the School of Business and Entrepreneurship were crowned winners at the just concluded Inter-University Strategic Business Leaders Challenge 2022, organised by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Dubbed Team Veex Strategia, the team comprising of Xavier Onyang’i (Banking and Finance), Esther Waruguru (Strategic Management) and Enock Omonywa (Strategic Management), emerged winners after beating, 11 teams after two rounds of aggressive competitions.
The top 11 finalists went head-to-head to showcase innovative case studies to test their ability to function as a leader in a simulated workplace environment as the judges evaluated a blend of technical, ethical and professional skills.
Enock said the competition gave them an opportunity to showcase the skills learnt in class, to solve real-life problems encountered at the workplace. “The competition gave us challenges encountered in a workplace environment, testing skills, such as commercial acumen, workplace ethics, communication, presentation and professional skepticism,” opined Enock.The trio walked away with a Sh150,000 ACCA scholarship, laptop, trophy, certificate of participation, ACCA gift hamper, job placement opportunities with eight top employers that have partnered with ACCA.
The win follows the shortlisting of 44 team members from eight Universities who made it to the top 11 finals after qualifying for the third and final stage of the competition. Initially, the applicants encompassed 266 teams who hailed from 38 institutions of higher learning across the country.
Team Veex Strategia were joined by another JKUAT Team, christened; Thee Chosen Pack comprising of Mercylin Binsari, Kawara Nyambura, Jacob Ombara and Robert Ouko, who made it to the top.
