‘You can ship out’ – Sudi dares CS Muturi to exit govt over abduction saga
By Arnold Ngure, January 15, 2025
Vocal Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has dared the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi to resign after he implicated several individuals in the government after his son Leslie Muturi was abducted by unknown people on June 22, 2024.
In an outburst, Sudi dared the former Attorney-General to resign, noting that he was dispensable and that replacements from his community were plenty.
“This desperate move, made now that your political career has waned, is a clear blackmail attempt. The timing is highly suspicious, revealing a coward man clutching at straws for political advantage,” Sudi charged.
Sudi, a legislator who has the president’s ear and enjoys unfettered access to the State House, added to the growing speculation on whether Muturi is on his way out of the cabinet.
Muturi on resignation calls
On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Muturi responded to calls by UDA legislators to relinquish his position or be sacked. The defiant former National Assembly speaker dared the legislators to bring it on, noting that at his age, he does not respond to junior politicians.
“I will just say bring it on. At my age, I am not the kind of person to respond to some perfunctory statements made by fairly inexperienced politicians. I think they are not worthy of my response. So, if anybody thinks that I don’t know what I’m doing, they are in for a rude shock,” Muturi told reporters.
This came after he recorded a statement at the Kilimani Police station regarding his son’s abduction during the protest weeks of June 2024.
Interior docket
Sudi’s statement comes just days after he stated that if he had been offered the cabinet docket for interior and National Administration, he would decisively deal with the youth mocking President William Ruto online.
“If I were given the security docket, in just three days, the foolishness of drawing things online would end. No country should be governed by foolishness. The country must be led with respect and the constitution, and no one should undermine the president,” Sudi noted on January 5, 2025.
This comes in the wake of calls for an end to abductions in the country by a section of leaders including Muturi who maintain that the trend may lead to anarchy and taint the image of the nation on the international stage.
“We stated this time and time again in the lead-up to the last general election. Today, there has been a number of abductions and in some cases unexplained deaths since the Gen Z revolts in June last year,” Muturi said in a press conference.
