Wavinya Ndeti handed direct Wiper ticket in Machakos gubernatorial race

Ex Kathiani Member of Parliament and former Transport and Infrastructure Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti has been given a direct Wiper ticket to vie for the Machakos governor seat in the August 9 polls.

Wavinya received the nomination certificate from the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday at the party’s command centre in Karen, Nairobi.

The move followed a consensus that saw Mavoko MP Patrick Makau drop out of the race in support of Wavinya.

In her speech, Wavinya said she was honoured to receive Makau’s endorsement adding that she plans to include him on her campaign trail and ultimately clinch Machako’s top seat.

“For a brother to step down for a sister is not a joke. I want to sincerely thank you Hon Makau for stepping down for me. That shows a love that surpasses any other love,” Wavinya said.

“This seat is not about Wavinya at all, it is about the party capturing the seat and working for our people.”

In her race to succeed outgoing governor Alfred Mutua, Wavinya is likely to face former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita (Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU)),  Deputy Governor Francis Maliti (Maendeleo Chap Chap), and former Senator Johnson Muthama (UDA).
