Waruguru intensifies Mt Kenya tours, calls for new wave of leadership
Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has intensified political activity in the Mt Kenya region, calling on residents to embrace a new wave of leadership as the country edges closer to a heated political season ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Saturday, April 11, 2026, Waruguru said a series of engagements across Kiambaa and Limuru have energised the local base, urging the residents to actively participate in what she described as a people-driven political movement.
“Kikuyu, are you ready? It is always inspiring to walk with leaders who remain grounded, connected, and truly committed to the people. Together with Dama wa Kiambaa and DCP Vice Chairperson Peter Mwathi wa Limuru, we have been on the ground in Kiambaa, Limuru and today, Kikuyu, it is your turn,” she wrote.

Waruguru turned her focus to those in positions of power, sending a strong message that the political mood across the country is shifting and that citizens are increasingly demanding accountability and change. She described the current moment as one driven by renewed public awareness and determination.
“To those who worship power, it is time you understood this: the zeal, the energy, and the spirit to liberate this country is now in top gear. The people are awake, and the moment for change is here,” she wrote.
The former Laikipia Women representative further urged voters to rethink their leadership choices, emphasising the need for leaders who are accessible, responsive, and willing to engage directly with the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans. Her message focused on leadership that listens and delivers beyond promises. She said.
“We must now give a chance to leaders who walk with the people, who listen, who stand firm, and who are ready to push for real change and meaningful development,” she wrote.

Waruguru concluded by declaring that the push for change is no longer a future ambition but a present reality already taking shape across the country.
“The alternative government is not coming; it is already here. Kikuyu, twasija!” She concluded.
Gachagua announces major rally in Ichung’wah’s Kikuyu backyard
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, had earlier confirmed a public rally to take place in Kikuyu township on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
“This morning, I had the opportunity to meet with leaders from the DCP in the Kikuyu constituency. I accepted their invitation to hold a public rally in Kikuyu township on Saturday, 11th April 2026, at 1:00 PM,” Gachagua confirmed.

The planned rally comes amid claims by Gachagua that some leaders in the region had warned against holding political gatherings in the constituency.
However, Gachagua has rejected these intimidation tactics, maintaining that Kikuyu is governed by the Constitution of Kenya, which protects the fundamental rights of peaceful assembly and association.
