Former Gatundu North MP quits Jubilee Party

Former Gatundu North MP Anne Wanjiku Kibe has resigned from Jubilee, the party that had sponsored her to parliament.
Kibe, a Jubilee Party member number JP23840 and who lost in the last general elections to youthful Elijah Njoroge alias Kururia left the party at a time that most politicians continue to align themselves with the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition spearheaded by President William Ruto.
In her resignation letter, Kibe thanked Jubilee Party for having given her an opportunity to serve plus the support it accorded her in her political journey.
“I’m truly grateful and honoured to have been given an opportunity to serve under this political party and for the support accorded to my political journey,” a section of her resignation letter read.
“I also wish the party leadership and all its membership the very best in their future political endeavours. God bless,” the letter further read.
Kibe further stated that she will now refocus and repurpose.
“We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea,” she quoted C. JoyBell C, a celebrated author.
The former Mediamax Networks Ltd journalist made history in 2017 when she floored six male contestants to win the parliamentary seat before losing it in 2022.
At the time, she garnered 39,447 votes against Waibara’s 9,314 while Kigo followed with 8,124 votes.
Other candidates, among them, former Kiambu County chief of staff Dominic Gicheru, who ran on an independent ticket, managed 1999 votes, Patrick Karigi followed with 545 votes while John Njenga, an independent candidate got 78 votes.
