The Orange Democratic Movement National Chairperson, Gladys Wanga, has announced her firm grip on securing the Orange Democratic Movement leadership amid party chaos.

“We had a productive and fully packed day in Lamu and Tana River counties, focused on strengthening our party presence and expanding our reach. We are working to secure ODM’s leadership, grounded in our shared commitment to social justice, particularly on issues affecting local communities, including security, blue economy, land rights, and equitable development,” Wanga said.

“The overwhelming support we received in Manda, Lamu Island, Witu (Lamu County), and Manjila in Tana Delta (Tana River County) reaffirms the people’s confidence in our party as we build momentum toward next year’s elections,” she added.

Wanga’s remarks on Sifuna’s fate

Her remarks come just moments after she dismissed claims that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was fired illegally from his position as the party’s Secretary General.

Speaking at the ODM coastal tour in Lamu on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Wanga maintained that Edwin Sifuna was ousted constitutionally according to the ODM Party’s constitution.

On her part, Wanga explained that during the National Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, a correct number was present to legally facilitate the decision to oust Sifuna.

Nimeona watu wanasema kwamba NEC was illegal na wamefanya illegal decision, NEC ya chama cha ODM is fully constituted by forty members, and the NEC we had yesterday, we had thirty-four out of the forty members attending and present with two apologies,” Wanga explained.

In addition, Wanga firmly state that the ODM’s NEC is properly constituted and can make any decision in line with the constitution of the party.

“This means that the NEC is properly constituted and can make any decision in line with the constitution of the party,” Wanga said.
