Wamuchomba raises alarm over political violence in Githunguri, blames ex-MP Gabriel Kago
By Nancy Marende, December 2, 2025Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has raised serious concerns over political violence and repeated threats in her constituency, accusing former Member of Parliament Gabriel Kago of orchestrating attacks against her.
In a detailed letter addressed to Douglas Kanja and copied to several top officials, including the NG-CDF Board Chairperson John Olago Aluoch, the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Ibrahim Amin, and the National Gender Commission, Wamuchomba outlined incidents that have left her fearing for her safety.
In the letter dated Monday, December 2, 2025, she recounted an attack on June 22, 2025, during the official opening of Gitombo Gituamba Road, where Kago and over 200 members of an organised gang allegedly assaulted her while she was officiating the tarmacking of the road.
The attackers reportedly used stones, sticks, and whips, and police officers on site had to intervene after her vehicle was stoned.
“Despite reporting the incident to the OCPD and OCS Kibicholi with evidence, the above persons haven’t been arraigned. As an elected Woman Member of Parliament, I feel threatened in performing my duties,” Wamuchomba wrote.

She further stated that Kago has continued mobilising goons during political meetings, threatening to stop her from executing her official duties.
Wamuchomba called for urgent intervention and protection whenever she is in her constituency and requested authorities to arraign the culprits involved in the previous attacks.
“I request for your urgent intervention and protection whenever I am in my constituency, including taking the necessary action to arraign the culprits who are well documented in all the above incidences,” she added.
She also warned that she has credible information indicating that further attacks are being planned against her and her team during the upcoming national government project commissions.
“I also have credible information that the same attacks are being planned on me and my officers as we officially commission national government projects in the next weeks to come,” she wrote.
