‘Kuna watu walikuwa wamekupangia mabaya’ – Anne Waiguru tells Ruto

By , August 10, 2024

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has claimed that certain powerful individuals were plotting evil against President William Ruto’s government.

According to Waiguru, who was speaking at a roadside rally during President Ruto’s tour in Kirinyaga on Saturday, August 10, 2024, these high-level master minds capitalized on the Gen Z-led protests to overthrow President Ruto.

“President, I saw that some people had set you up for failure. They wanted you to fall,” Waiguru stated.

Waiguru praised President Ruto for his strategic decision to include members of the opposition from the ODM Party in his cabinet, a move she described as clever and beneficial for the stability of the government.

“God is on your side. You prepared yourself and did what you knew. Now we have a broad-based government,” she added.

According to Waiguru, this inclusive approach is expected to contribute significantly to national unity and curb divisive political practices.

She emphasized the importance of national unity for the success of the Kenya Kwanza development programs, urging residents of the Mt Kenya region to support Ruto’s administration and resist divisive political figures.

Waiguru expressed confidence that the country’s unity is essential for citizens to reap the benefits of ongoing initiatives and stressed that the Mt Kenya region should remain aligned with the government rather than opposing it.

She called for patience and continued support for President Ruto to ensure that his commitments to the region are fulfilled.

“We the people of the mountain region cannot afford to be in the Opposition. I urge that we continue to support President Ruto’s government and give him ample time to fulfil his election pledges to the mountain region,” Waiguru said.

Joho joins Ruto

On his tour, President Ruto was accompanied by Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho who has vowed to work closely with the government.

Addressing the residents of Kirinyaga, Joho who was recently hand-picked from ODM by Ruto as part of his newly reconstituted cabinet emphasized his commitment to ensuring the success of the government’s initiatives in the area.

Joho elaborated on his plans to work closely with the local government and residents to ensure the youth secure jobs.

“I heard your governor saying that someone told her to leave the government. If I am in the government myself, how are you leaving? Haven’t you seen me here? I am in William Samoei Ruto’s government. The President has given us orders. I came here to check on the fish project, and he told me that after two months, he wants to come and see if it is completed,” Joho stated.
