Veteran politician Joseph Munyao steps down as DP’s party leader in favour of Justin Muturi

Veteran politician Joseph Munyao has relinquished his position as the party leader of the Democratic Party in favour of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

Munyao, who is a former Kibaki era minister and a founder member of the Democratic Party, announced that he has sacrificed his position as the outfits leader and will henceforth serve as the party’s patron.

“I’m going to sacrifice my position as the party leader of DP to Justin Muturi and I will become the party patron,” he said.

Munyao made his announcement at the Democratic Party’s National Delegates Conference where Justin Muturi was endorsed as the flagbearer of the decades-old party. Speaking to delegates at the fully-packed Bomas of Kenya convention, Justin Muturi vowed that his administration will champion for transformation of the country.

“We have a chance to change the destiny of this country on the 9th of August this year and I am honored to stand before you today on a day I believe will mark a new beginning. My name is Justin Muturi and you are JustinTime for Change,” Muturi said.
