The United Democratic Movement (UDM) party, on Thursday, March 10, endorsed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to run for presidency in this year’s general election.

Speaking during the party’s National Delegates Convention event at Bomas of Kenya, UDM leader Ali Roba further said that he will consolidate votes from North Eastern region for Odinga.

“I want to welcome the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the presidential candidate that we shall support as UDM,” Roba said.

The move is a major boost for Odinga who has already been endorsed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“UDM endorses Raila Odinga as its presidential candidate for the 2022 general election,” party lawyer Issa Mansur said.

The party also listed some resolutions which they read to Odinga which were also endorsed by the delegates.

Part of the agreement was that UDM will officially join the Azimio la Umoja Movement and endorse the partnership between Jubilee and ODM.

During the function, UDM delegates equally approved the new party colours which include red, yellow and black and the symbol of the party, which is a goat.

Some of the leaders who attended the function include; former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and DAP-K leader Wafula Wamunyinyi.

Odinga is scheduled to hold a rally in Meru County later today where he will be received by Governor Kiraitu Murungi and Agriculture CS Peter Munya.
