Tony Gachoka hails Orengo’s courage hours after Seme funeral incident
Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Tony Gachoka has lauded Siaya Senator James Orengo, describing him as a towering figure in Kenya’s political liberation struggle and a steadfast voice for the people.
Taking to his X account on May 2, 2026, Gachoka said Orengo has remained one of the reliable voices of, for and by the people, crediting him with a long-standing commitment to democratic ideals and public service.

“Orengo is a giant of political Liberation in Kenya. He has remained a liable voice of, for and by the people,” Gachoka said.
Orengo’s political journey
He further extended goodwill messages to the veteran opposition leader, wishing him well in his continued political journey.
Gachoka also associated his comment with the Kenya African National Union (KANU), expressing solidarity with Orengo, who is a senior figure in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“Nobody can erase this so as TG and KANU, we wish the People’s Leader of ODM God’s speed,” Gachoka added.
Gachoka’s remarks come following the incident by James Orengo, who many politicians have described as having a political renaissance following the political drama witnessed at the funeral service in Seme on May 2, 2026.
Caleb Amisi praising Orengo’s decisions
Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi praised the Siaya County Governor James Orengo for maturely enduring heckling and clashes at a funeral in Seme sub-county.
“James Orengo behaved maturely today, in the midst of vultures baying for his carcass. Hasira za watu wa tutam ni mingi sana. Kuna ndimu huko kwa broadbased? . Machozi kila mahali. Any, Kenya needs a renaissance,” Amisi said in a post on his official X account on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

This follows moments after the Siaya Governor James Orengo was forced to leave the funeral proceedings after a political clash erupted.
Orengo’s stand after the incident
Shortly after the chaos witnessed in Seme, Orengo issued a stern warning to individuals he accused of plotting violence against Linda Mwananchi, declaring that efforts to intimidate the movement’s activities would not succeed.
In a post on his official X account on Saturday, May 2, 2026, Orengo condemned a group of rowdy individuals who stormed the burial service while chanting political slogans.
“It is both shameful and a national disgrace that the State and its luckys could disrupt a solemn send off so rattled by the people’s unity that it resorted to unleashing goons,” Orengo said.
