Tempers flare as Jubilee demands to leave coalition

Tempers flared during a debate over the removal of Jubilee Party members from parliamentary leadership and committees with the former ruling party demanding to exit the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Debate started after Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama (pictured) rose on a point of order seeking the Speaker’s ruling on a request by the Jubilee Party to be recognised as a parliamentary party in essence leaving the Azimio coalition.

It was then that nominated MP Sabina Chege challenged her removal from the post after the Azimio Coalition wrote to Speaker of the House Moses Wetang’ula to approve the changes.

Leader of majority Kimani Ichungwá accused the minority side of not following the law in replacing Chege and any other member.

“I want to invite the entire House to stand with the Jubilee Party in Azimio. There is a process of removing a member from a coalition, not just writing to the Speaker,” Ichung’wa said.

“ I want you to protect the individual rights of Sabina Chege and any other member who could fall to the whims of the Azimio coalition,”Ichung’wa said.
