Sudi apologises to Raila over stoning of his chopper, vows to mobilize crowds during his next Eldoret visit

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has apologized to ODM Leader Raila Odinga following an attack on him and his entourage at the Friday burial of business mogul Jackson Kibor.
During the incident, a chopper that had the former Prime Minister and his allies aboard was pelted with stones and other projectiles, damaging its windscreen and air shield.
Speaking at a funeral service in Kapseret, Sudi condemned the violence that was meted out on the opposition chief and called on security agencies to get to the root of the matter.
The lawmaker, who has since been summoned by the DCI for allegedly organizing and coordinating the chaos, stated that Raila is free to sell his policies and to campaign freely in any part of the nation.
“Members of the Kalenjin community are not known for that brand of politics. I want to state categorically that the mistake is already done and that we apologize to Mzee Raila Odinga and his entourage. We are aware that there are youths who have been arrested in connection to the chaos and that is the right direction towards ending political violence,” he said.
The vocal politician further asked Raila to organize another outing in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county. The Ruto-ally assured the former premier that he will go out of his way to mobilize crowds to throng his next Eldoret rally.
“I want to tell Raila that he can come back to Eldoret and if he wishes I could help him in mobilizing crowds to his rally. We will attend his rally and listen to his policies,” he added.
Sudi’s statement comes against the backdrop of a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, summoning him, Soy MP Caleb Kositany and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Langat.
The investigative body stated that according to its preliminary findings, the two legislators and the county assembly speaker organized and coordinated the chaos witnessed at Kibor’s burial. The Kinoti-led agency directed the political leaders to appear before the Rift Valley DCI Regional coordinator on April 3, 2022, at 9am.
