Stop insulting Kenyans – Kanini, Sabina tell opponents
By Loise Wambugu, May 29, 2022
Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega and Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege have called upon politicians to shun planning chaos, hurling insults at each other, and lying to Kenyans during the campaign period.
“I’m urging our opponents and all those vying for various posts to shun hurling insults and sell the agendas they have for the electorates,” he said.
Kanini, who spoke in Mweiga, Kieni Constituency after being cleared by IEBC to run in the August 9 polls, asked Kenyans to vote for the Azimio-One Kenya team, that has time and again spoken against corruption, a vice he says has drained the country of its resources.
“If you have not been at the forefront in the fight against corruption, even when given the chance to lead the nation, you will not fight corruption,” Kanini said.
Kanini seeks re-election
The legislator, who is seeking re-election for the third term, said that his track record on development is evident as the constituency that had no tarmacked roads has now over 300km of tarmac and over 70 per cent of homesteads are connected with electricity.
“I’m happy to have been cleared by the IEBC to vie for the third term as the legislator to continue shaping and making Kieni a great constituency,” he said.
Chege who accompanied Kanini, called upon the Mount Kenya electorate to vote for the Azimio coalition.
“We are appealing to the people of the mountain to support Jubilee Party because it is the mountain party and more so because we have the iron lady Martha Karua, the Martha who stood with you in 2007, the Martha who fought for the mountain is the same Martha who is here today,” she said.
The two legislators further told Kenyans that an Azimio government would continue with the development track record that President Uhuru Kenyatta will leave behind.
