Sirisia MP renews push to put Luhya votes in one basket ahead of 2027

Siridia Member of Parliament John Waluke has called on the Mulembe community to unite behind President William Ruto in the 2027 polls as the region seeks to capture power.

Speaking during a public forum on Monday, December 1, 2025, Waluke reiterated that the community will be fronting a presidential candidate after Ruto finishes his term.

Unity of our people

“We are ready to put on our boots to lead Ruto’s reelection bid. We know the good that comes with his presidency. The next election, we will all vote in one basket for Ruto,” he added.

He noted that the bid was hinged on their demonstrating their voting power.

“We cannot get the presidency in 2032 if we do not prove we can take a united stand. As your chair of the Western Caucus region, I want you to continue selling the unity of our people. It is only through registering as voters and voting as a block for Ruto that we can bring the presidency here,” he added.

Waluke also took a swipe at the opposition, cautioning the residents of the western region against siding with the outfit he described as weak.

“Do not be misled by those people in the opposition. I have seen the former DP and other former ministers in that camp. All of them are very weak. They cannot mount any challenge against Ruto,” he stated.

Mudavadi or Wetang’ula in 2032

His remarks come after he disclosed that they were contemplating fronting either National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula or the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, to carry the region’s flag in 2032.

“We have Musalia and Wetang’ula here, and since we cannot have both of them as president. We will eventually pick one of them as our presidential candidate. At the moment, we are vetting them for the job. After President Ruto’s tenure ends in 2032, we must have one of them as president,” Waluke said on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

He added that they were ready to grab the presidency after it came close to them through Ruto’s ascension to power.

“The seat is now near home, and we cannot allow it to go back to the mountain where it has been for 35 years,” he added.
