Sifuna praises Khalwale for challenging gov’t plans to privatise Mumias, Nzoia sugar companies

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has weighed in on remarks made by his Kakamega counterpart Boni Khalwale regarding the government’s plan to privatise parastatals.

Khalwale had opposed the government’s plan to privatise Mumias and Nzoia sugar companies noting that should the government succeed their ancestral land would be taken away from its rightful owners.

“We cannot accept, this is not out of disrespect from the president or the government that is the little we have,” he stated.

In a rejoinder shared via his official Twitter account, Sifuna opined that it was a great move that his Kakamega counterpart had chosen to see things differently.

He applauded Khalwale for speaking his truth and defending the land aforementioned from privatisation.

Sifuna also claimed that Khalwale is now a free man.

“There is an objective truth that we can all see despite our political differences. On every single issue, all of us know what the truth is. At least on the Privatization Bill Omwami has chosen not just to know the Truth but to speak it, he is free now” he wrote.
