Sifuna, Orengo attend church service in Kisumu amid planned Linda Mwananchi Nyahururu tour
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Governor James Orengo on Sunday, July 12, 2026, attended a church service at St Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in Kisumu, in a show of opposition unity just hours before the much-anticipated Linda Mwananchi political tour in Nyahururu.
Their appearance comes as opposition leaders intensify mobilisation ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, with the Linda Mwananchi movement expected to headline a series of engagements in Nyahururu later on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Focus shifts to Nyahururu
The Kisumu service came as attention shifted to Nyahururu, where the Linda Mwananchi movement is expected to begin its programme with a church service before holding a town procession and public rally.

The tour is viewed as one of the opposition’s final high-profile mobilisation activities before Ol Kalou voters head to the ballot on July 16, 2026.
Political analysts say the final days of campaigning are likely to shape voter perception, energise supporters and reinforce coalition unity in one of the country’s most closely watched by-elections.
Ol Kalou battle intensifies
The Nyahururu tour follows the opposition’s decision to rally behind a single candidate under the United Alternative Government (UAG) coalition after consultations among partner parties.
The Ol Kalou contest has evolved into a key political test between President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) and the broader opposition alliance, with leaders viewing the outcome as an early indicator of political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The opposition hopes the Nyahururu mobilisation, coupled with a united front displayed by senior leaders such as Orengo and Sifuna, will strengthen its campaign momentum in the final stretch before polling day.
