Senator Maanzo reveals opposition’s strategy to prevent vote rigging in 2027
By Mustafa Juma, March 5, 2026Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has revealed that the opposition is already putting in place a nationwide strategy aimed at preventing vote rigging in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Thursday, March 5, 2026, during an interview with a local TV station, Maanzo warned that Kenyans will not accept disputed outcomes as seen in previous electoral cycles.
The Wiper Patriotic Front Party lawmaker said the opposition coalition is preparing to deploy agents in every polling station across the country to safeguard the integrity of the vote.
According to Maanzo, the opposition has drawn lessons from past elections in which some parties alleged irregularities and manipulation of results.

Verification of votes
He said the coalition intends to implement a robust monitoring system that will ensure results are verified at the polling station level before being transmitted and tallied nationally.
“Kenyans will not accept stolen elections anymore. Whoever thinks they are going to run a government having stolen elections will get a shock of their life. ODM has suffered under stolen elections in the past, and therefore, this time round, we are going to be careful,” he said.
The senator explained that the opposition’s strategy will involve having trained agents stationed at every polling centre to monitor the voting process, oversee vote counting, and independently record the results declared at the polling stations.
He said the move is designed to ensure that by the time the national tallying process begins, opposition parties will already have their own verified results from across the country.
“We will be in every polling station making sure that when the national tally is done, we already know the results,” Maanzo stated.

The remarks come as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with both government and opposition figures beginning to outline their strategies for the high-stakes contest.
Electoral reforms
The United Opposition coalition, which currently brings together several parties including Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Patriotic Front, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Eugene Wamalwa’s Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), and the Jubilee Party, which has fronted former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as its 2027 presidential flagbearer, has repeatedly called for electoral reforms aimed at strengthening transparency and public confidence in the country’s electoral system.
Kenya has experienced several disputed elections in the past, including the historic annulment of the 2017 presidential election by the Supreme Court of Kenya under the then Chief Justice David Maraga, who has since presented himself as a frontrunner in the 2027 presidential race.
The United Opposition coalition has been insisting that it will make President William Ruto a one-term president, accusing him of failing in his leadership.
