Mandera County Senator Ali Roba has joined President William Ruto's allies in attacking Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

On Monday, June 17, 2024, the former Mandera Governor took to his official X account to castigate Gachagua over his political utterances.

Ali Roba says by continuing to advocate for Mt Kenya unity, the deputy president has successfully rendered himself "irrelevant, inconsequential, and nothing but a tribal chief who fails to understand that no single clan can build a government on its own in Kenya."

Gachagua undermining others

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) Party leader says the second in command has consistently made statements that undermine others and discuss the concept of government shareholding, distinguishing between those who are shareholders and those who are not.

"At the beginning of the current term of the Kenya-Kwanza government, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has consistently made statements that undermine others and discuss the concept of government shareholding, distinguishing between those who are shareholders and those who are not," Ali Roba said.

Roba says it is hypocritical for the deputy president to now lament about the same shareholding issues, while Kenyans have shown patience despite his previous negative remarks and ridicule.

"It has been particularly shocking to hear such remarks from the second-in-command of the country. However, fate has a way of turning the tables," Ali Roba stated.

"Today, Rigathi Gachagua finds himself lamenting about the same shareholding issues, while Kenyans have shown patience despite his previous negative remarks and ridicule, including his criticisms of certain governors, such as the Governor of Mombasa, Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, during the flooding season caused by heavy rains."

Gachagua has found himself at war with a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders over his decision to unite the people of Mt Kenya.

Gachagua-UDA war

The second in command has been termed tribal a section of leaders from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), including the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, and the Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro.

Osoro has since called for Gachagua's impeachment, terming his conduct as bad in the eyes of the public.

Osoro has said that Gachagua will be confronted over his contact during the UDA Parliamentary Group meeting.
