Savula to deputise Barasa in Kakamega governor contest

By , May 12, 2022

Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula yesterday pulled out of the Kakamegaship contest.

He will instead be former Kenya Electricity Transmission Company chief executive Fernandes Barasa’s running-mate.

This was agreed in a deal entered between Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa among other leaders allied to the Orange Democratic Movement and Democratic Action Party-Kenya parties. People Daily has established that the deal would also see Savula allocated five CEC slots in a would-be Barasa government.

Sources said it was also agreed that the Northern part of Kakamega, where Savula hails from, would also produce the next assembly Speaker.

Contacted, Barasa and Savula said they were held up in meetings and promised to get back later, however, by the time of going to the press, they had not responded.

But their close associates confirmed that the news was true.
