Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has promised a warm welcome to Kenyans planning to stage protests at Parliament buildings on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Amisi through his official X account on June 17, 2024, encouraged a section of Kenyans planning the 'Occupy Parliament' protests to go ahead.

Taking back power

According to Amisi, those planning to protest protest have a chance to take back power.

"Kenyans who are threatening to come to parliament tomorrow. Please come or forever hold your peace. You have a chance in a million to make manifest the preamble of the law of the land; the power belongs to the people," Amisi stated.

The lawmaker further said that he would arrive at the parliament buildings as early as 10 am to welcome the protesters.

Amisi also noted that he will go to the extent of providing breakfast to those who will arrive early enough.

"I will be there at 10 am to welcome you. I will provide tea and porridge, and if need be, the bus fare back home. Let's save our country from the jaws of the cannibals," he stated.

Amisi joins Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni in supporting the protests aimed at forcing the Members of Parliament (MPs) to vote against the proposed Finance Bill, 2024, that will be tabled in the house on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Kioni on protests

Kioni through his official social media accounts has called on Kenyans to come out in large numbers and lead in rejecting the Finance Bill, 2024.

Kioni further shared the posters made by Kenyans, calling on each other to assemble at select venues within Nairobi CBD and match to Parliament.

The protest dubbed Occupy Parliament is expected to coincide with the tabling of the Finance Bill 2024 in the August House.

One of the organisers, activist Boniface Mwangi, said Kenyans from every part of the country will convene in various parts of the city before marching to Parliament.

He named the venues Ambassadeur/Archives, Nation Centre, Supreme Court, Skate Park, Taifa Road, Kencom Stage and City Hall Way.
