Ruto and Gachagua can still work together in 2027 – Manyora
Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has stated that President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua can still unite ahead of 2027.
While speaking during an interview on his channel on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Manyora stated that despite their earlier political feud, which led to Gachagua’s impeachment, political enmity is not constant. The two can still shed their past and work together.

He went on to say that politics is dynamic and nothing should be ruled out. According to him, the President had placed all his hopes on the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for his reelection in 2027, after the Mount Kenya voting bloc slipped away from him following his fallout with Gachagua.
With all his hopes now dashed and the ground appearing shaky, the President might seek support from the Mountain by approaching Gachagua.
“He can still go to Mount Kenya and tell the people, ‘Well, I’m sorry. Please reconsider. Let’s start again.’ He can still do it cleverly. He can talk to Gachagua and say, ‘Please forgive me. We can move forward in this manner.’ Gachagua can consider. He can even do more than that,” Manyora said

Manyora further stated that it is possible for the two to work together. He suggested that since the judiciary is sometimes compromised, the President might use it as an avenue to win over the Deputy President by helping sway the impeachment case involving Gachagua in his favour, with a promise to reinstate him to his office as Deputy President in exchange for support from the Mountain region.
“He can use the courts, because our courts are being used all the time. And I’m not afraid to say it: he can use our courts to restore Gachagua to his position. Anything is possible in politics,” he added.
Current political situation
This comes at a time when the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is divided on whether to support the President for his reelection or not.
A majority of Luo Nyanza leaders have vowed to remain in the broad-based government and support the President, saying that this was where the former Prime Minister left them.
Other sections of the party have urged the President to use ODM as his 2027 political vehicle.
However, other leaders, such as Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Nairobi Senator and Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, are opposed to this, saying that ODM should stick to its role in the opposition.

The party, on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, during an ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting led by the newly installed party leader, who doubles as Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, agreed that they will retain their support for the broad-based government until 2027.
