Former Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has warned that the continued wrangling between Governor James Orengo and his Deputy William Oduol will likely jeopardize development in the county.

Rasanga asked the two leaders to find a truce and end the squabbles for the sake of development.

Speaking at Amani Children’s Home in Gem Sub-County where he gave humanitarian aid, Rasanga said the wrangles would hurt the development that the duo had promised during campaigns.

“I have been hearing the wrangles over the media and just as I had promised earlier, I need to sit them down and help them sort out their differences. Their public spat is not healthy for the county,” said Rasanga.

“We never expected their differences to emerge as early as six months. There should be no divorce. Let them iron out their differences at a kamkunji (public rally) as a public spat would only widen the rifts. I had laid a firm foundation and it’s upon them to build on it”.

Rasanga vows to give back to the society

He at the same time challenged the wealthy to give back to the society by supporting institutions such as children’s homes or helping the vulnerable.

“As the former patron of the Nurturing Care Model for Siaya, I will be happy seeing the kids that end up at the orphanage after been abandoned by their parents thrive to maturity. Right now my focus shifts to programs that uplift the standard of living of the vulnerable people in Siaya County,” he added.

Rasanga who also visited the Foundation Stone orphanage in Bondo sub-County asked President William Ruto to to uplift the standards of living for the vulnerable people in Siaya County.
