Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has called on the coalition’s legislators to stay united and perform their role as a government watchdog.

Raila, who spoke in Machakos where the Azimio legislators are meeting, said it is the work of parliamentarians to keep the Executive in check.

“Government has three arms; Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. You are part of the government as Parliament and you have a role to play in oversighting this government,” he said.

Raila insisted that Azimio has the highest Members of Parliament and they should not shy away from it, urging the legislators to stick together for a common cause.

“We will use our majority in Parliament to keep this government in check. Our members should walk tall because you are Members of Parliament and you have a role to play in serving our people.

“If you play that role, our people are going to be respected,” he stated.

He also called on the Azimio MPs to bond and work together.

“I want you to bond. Don’t be greedy over positions. I know people will be scrambling for positions in Parliament, but one person will be a leader at a time.

“Don’t abuse your majority status in terms of parties to discriminate against others. We must all work together.

“We must foster unity among ourselves,” he added.
