Sasa tutasanya masahihi millionikumi na tano ya kutoa imani katika serikali bandia ya Ruto na Gachagua ili isionekane kwamba Raila anaongea peke yake lakini ako na watu nyuma yake. Nataka kila mtu aweke sahihi yake,” he stated.

Loosely translates to:

“We will collect 15 million signatures to show that we lack faith in President William Ruto’s government. The signatures will show that I am not alone and that I have Kenyans behind me. Everybody should sign,”

“We are not criminals, we just don’t want to quarrel. Kenyans should understand that whatever we decide to do has a reason. The cost of living is high,” he added.

Raila also castigated Ruto’s government for not fulfilling their campaign pledges.

Earlier, the Azimio faction had announced plans to collect 10 million signatures by Friday, July 14, 2023, in a move meant to express dissatisfaction with Ruto’s regime.

While addressing a Saba Saba rally at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Friday, July 7, 2023, stated that they had resorted to the drive due to the government’s failure to address their grievances such as high cost of living, ‘punitive taxes’ and biased recruitment of electoral commissioners.

“The people have started the process of taking back the power given to people to represent them. We have to know how many we are and that is why we have started collecting signatures,” he stated.
