Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo has affirmed the Luo community’s commitment to working with the Kenya Kwanza government, in line with the late Raila Odinga’s vision.

Speaking to a local TV station on Saturday, October 18, 2025, Omollo implored the region to see through what their departed son started with presidentWilliam Ruto, following the memorandum of understanding signed between the two principals on March 7, 2025.

He reminisced that Raila made the conscious decision to join hands with Ruto, a development he says the people from his region should abide by.

Pro-goverment stance

“My appeal to Kenyans is that we must honour him by following what he believed in and stood for. As a son of this region, we are in government fully courtesy of Raila, and we have no intention of going out any time soon,” he reaffirmed.

“His Excellency has honoured this community by giving Raila all the rights and privileges that go with a state burial, and we owe him all the gratitude,” he stated.

His remarks mirror those made by Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.

Speaking during a press briefing on Friday, October 17, 2025, the CS stated that the Orange party would continue collaborating with its partners in the broad-based government, led by UDA supremo president William Ruto.

Sticking with Ruto

“As ODM party, Baba has left us in the hands of President William Ruto. That’s where we shall stay till the end and can dare say without any fear of the contravention that we are going to walk step by step with President Ruto to the end,” Wandayi said.

“We shall stick with him in 2027 and beyond because, as a Community, we are safe in his hands.”

He similarly lauded the party’s choice of Oburu Oginga as the acting new party leader.

“ODM, which is the party that I belong to, has made a very wise decision to appoint Oburu as acting party leader. In fact, I will be proposing as a live member of ODM that the ODM convenes a national Delegates Convention soon after Baba’s send off, to actually confirm dr Oburu’s appointment and elect him formally as the ODM party leader.”
