Peter Kaluma mocks Osotsi, Sifuna and Wamboka after Didmus Barasa’s rebuke

Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has mocked Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Bumula MP Jack Wamboka.

This follows a political exchange involving Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa in Bungoma on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Kaluma, through X on Sunday, July 5, 2026, suggested the 3 leaders had been outmatched by Barasa during the public event.

“Lol! Sifuna, Osotsi, Wamboka, Kalasinga being fried by mere Didmus in the same frying-pan at home in Bungoma! Believe me when I tell you that these guys are loud featherweights – too light to concern us in the Broad Based Government,” Kaluma wrote.

The remarks came after Barasa and Sifuna traded political attacks during a funeral in Bungoma County.

Addressing mourners, Barasa, who is also the Kimilili MP, said he respected Osotsi despite the two belonging to different political camps.

“If there is a person in this team whom I respect so much for his intelligence, it is Osotsi. He is in Sifuna’s team to calculate his chances and benefits, not that he loves him,” Barasa said.

As the crowd reacted, Barasa briefly stopped speaking.

“Everyone has a right to speak, and if you are coming to beat me, then let me drop the microphone and leave,” he stated before leaving the podium.

He later urged his supporters to remain patient, saying, “We are going to organise a major meeting here in Bungoma. What you will tell me to say, I will do in Nairobi.

“I just want you to be patient because this is a chance of a lifetime, and we have a responsibility to answer to the call of our generation.”

Barasa also told the gathering that he was raised by a widowed mother in a poor background.

Sifuna hits back

Speaking at the same event, Sifuna defended the opposition’s criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.

“There are reasons we are saying Ruto must go. He is manufacturing victims of police violence more than he can compensate them. I am tired as an opposition leader.

“Every day you wake up to cases of doctors, teachers, and Ebola. Even if opposition is meant to keep the government in check, this one is giving us a difficult job,” Sifuna said.

The Nairobi senator then turned his attention to Barasa.

“Barasa, you cannot go to Parliament and pass a bill that oppresses Kenyans, and then on Friday, walk to a bank, take loose Ksh100 notes and distribute them to people.

“You then go ahead and post on the internet that people do not want Sifuna. We have known you, and for that reason, you will be the last person to leave this funeral,” he said.

The exchange underscored the growing political rivalry between Kenya Kwanza and opposition leaders as campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum.
