Silvanos Osoro reveals plans to confront Gachagua during UDA meeting

By , June 17, 2024

South Mugirango Member of Parliament Silvanos Osoro has revealed plans to confront Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) meeting.

The National Assembly Chief Whip says that lawmakers affiliated with the UDA Party are ready to face the second in command over his recent political remarks and general behaviour.

Speaking to a local TV station, Osoro stated that the MPs expect President William Ruto to call Gachagua to order during their planned party meeting.

Failure to which, Osoro emphasised that those opposed to his recent political antics would confront him.

“We also expect him (Ruto) to tell his deputy to stop being tribal and focus on his national agenda,” Osoro stated.

“We really expect that because if he doesn’t then the members will tell him, the deputy party leader, that you are a bit too much of being tribal,”

Osoro reprimanded Gachagua noting that he was undermining the Presidency by advancing divisive politics. The South Mugirango MP observed that DP Gachagua must realign with the Kenya Kwanza vision.

“It is about time he realigns himself with our vision of one Kenya, one country. So it is wrong to undermine a region based on how they vote especially when it comes from the deputy president who is the second in command,” Osoro stated.

“The deputy president is a politician and understands when politicians are speaking and he is gone a stray.”

Battle lines drawn

This comes just hours after Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga appealed to President Ruto to stop attacks directed at his deputy. Speaking to a local TV station, the Nyeri Governor lamented over what he termed as choreographed sabotage aimed at soiling Gachagua’s reputation.

Governor Kahiga pointed accusing fingers at close allies of President Ruto for leading ant-Gachagua campaigns.

“Those around the President and some who have no known office are the ones trying to create confusion in Mt Kenya. They are trying to destabilise DP Gachagua, the problem is that the President is not taking charge,” he stated.

Gachagua also hit out at Ruto’s close allies for trying to dictate to him how he should carry out his mandate. A rejuvenated second in command rubbished their sentiments insisting that he was only answerable to President Ruto and the electorates.

However, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, Gachagua took a different approach by pleading with Kenyans to pray for him as he faced increasing political pressure and allegations of sabotage within the ruling party.

“Pray for our president to get wisdom and courage to lead our country, especially on the economic transformation in this country,” he said.

“Remember me because you know I am a truthful and honest man. Pray for me that I continue being truthful and honest.”
