ODM Youth Convention: Passaris lists 3 must-meet conditions for participation

By , April 20, 2026

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has unveiled strict participation criteria for the much-anticipated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth Convention.

This is as the party seeks to streamline engagement and ensure only eligible youth take part in the high-stakes forum.

In a statement issued via her official X account on Monday, April 20, 2026, ahead of the event scheduled for Monday, April 20, at Jamhuri Show Ground, Passaris invited young people to attend the convention, describing it as a key platform for shaping the future and advancing the youth agenda within the party.

“Our beloved youth are invited to attend the ODM Youth Convention happening today, Monday, 20th April. Come be part of shaping the future, engaging in meaningful dialogue, and driving the youth agenda forward,” Passaris stated.

Participation criteria

According to Esther Passaris, attendance will be limited to youth who meet three specific conditions.

She noted that participants must be under 35 years of age, must be registered members of the ODM party, and must also be registered voters.

The requirements signal a deliberate move by the party to ensure that participants are not only youthful but also politically engaged and formally recognised within the electoral system.

“Kindly note: Participation is limited to youth who meet the following criteria:
• Must be under 35 years
• Must be an ODM member
• Must be a registered voter
To become a member of the ODM Party, simply dial: *483 036

Targeting active and verified youth

The criteria are designed to filter out non-members and casual participants, ensuring the convention is attended by individuals who are actively involved in party politics and civic processes.

By insisting on voter registration, ODM appears keen to strengthen its youth voting base, encourage civic responsibility among young people, and align party activities with electoral participation.

The ODM Youth Convention comes at a time when political parties are increasingly turning to young voters as a decisive force in upcoming elections.

For ODM, the convention is expected to serve as a launchpad for youth-driven policy discussions and political alignment ahead of future electoral contests, even as the party struggles with internal leadership wrangles.

As the convention kicks off, all eyes will be on how effectively ODM leverages the platform to energise its youth base and shape its political messaging ahead of the 2027 General Election, amid plans to enter a pre-election coalition with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
