The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has vowed to maintain a unified stance and continue the legacy of its late party leader, Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Chungwa House after a Central Committee meeting, Secretary General Edwin Sifuna affirmed that they had resolved to stay united and continue the dream Raila Odinga had for the entire nation.

“We commit in unison, as we did during the funeral, that we will not be responsible for any breakup in the party of any unnecessary political turbulence that runs counter to Raila’s dream,” the party stated.

Sifuna acknowledged that the party was staring at difficult spells post-Raila, with the challenge of wading through the next phase among its most immediate challenges.

“The immediate post-Raila time will be admittedly difficult, but we do not have time with the upcoming November by-elections and anniversary celebration ahead,”he added.

Certainly, no one will be able to fill Raila’s shoes, but together, the unity of purpose will be a key cog towards navigating the next phase,”he added.

The party called for a collaborative approach to solve the issues incidental to its leader’s death, urging its top leadership and officials to take the lead in promoting unity and cohesiveness.

“We now call upon party membership and elected party officials to rally behind Raila’s dream for the party. We have a role to reach out across the country and assure them that the journey of Raila is still on, and we will remain with them until the journey is over.

“Baba built this party on the foundation of values of equity and justice. Let us resist the temptation to scatter in despair or to fight over his political inheritance as leaders always do after their leader falls,” he added.
